Canary Foundation is the world’s first nonprofit focused solely on early cancer detection & works with Stanford’s Canary Center.
The breast cancer program is working to improve early detection of potentially lethal breast cancer by identifying biomarkers that complement existing imaging methods and by developing new imaging alternatives.
* Maryam Mirzakhani was an Iranian mathematician and a professor of mathematics at Stanford University. She was the first woman to win the Fields Medal for her outstanding contributions in mathematics. She lost her battle with breast cancer in July 2017, at the age of 40.
** Mariam Jobrani (sister of Maz Jobrani) was an Iranian producer and director, known for Big Brother (2000), Kitchen Nightmares (2007) and The Fighting Cholitas (2006). Her last project was a documentary Everything Must Change about her search for meaning after her recurrent diagnosis of Breast Cancer. She passed away in August 2017 of breast cancer at the age of 47. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Mariam’s favorite charity in her honor – Planned Parenthood
